Preparing Your Blinds

Preparing Your Blinds

Already have blinds you love? Great! Our Customize My Existing Blinds service lets you give them a completely new look without replacing them. Taking a few minutes to prepare your blinds before shipping helps ensure the best possible results.

Step 1: Remove Your Blinds

Carefully remove the blinds and all necessary hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions.

If you're unsure how your blinds are installed, consult the manufacturer's guide before removing them.

Step 2: Inspect Your Blinds

Before shipping, check your blinds for:

- Broken or cracked slats

- Warped or bent components

- Missing pieces

- Frayed cords or damaged mechanisms

- Water damage

- Mold or mildew

If your blinds are damaged, contact us before shipping them. Some blinds may not be suitable for customization.

Step 3: Clean Your Blinds

Customer-supplied blinds should arrive clean and ready for production.

Please remove:

- Dust

- Dirt

- Pet hair

- Grease

- Smoke or nicotine residue

- Sticky residue

- Cobwebs

Light cleaning with a soft cloth or microfiber duster is usually sufficient for well-maintained blinds. If additional cleaning is required after your blinds arrive, we will contact you before work begins. Cleaning fees may apply, or we may decline the order if the blinds are not suitable for customization.

Step 4: Package Your Blinds

To help prevent shipping damage:

- Close and secure the blinds.

- Wrap them in bubble wrap or other protective material.

- Cushion all sides of the package.

- Use a sturdy shipping box that allows adequate protection.

- Include your order number inside the package.

Do not ship blinds loose inside a box.

Step 5: Ship to BlindScene™

Once your order has been placed, we'll provide the shipping address and any additional instructions.

We recommend purchasing shipping insurance for the replacement value of your blinds, especially for custom or high-end window treatments.

What Happens Next?

When your blinds arrive, we'll:

- Inspect their condition.

- Verify they are compatible with our customization process.

- Contact you if we discover any concerns before production begins.

Once approved, we'll begin printing or engraving your custom design.

Please Note

BlindScene™ reserves the right to decline customization of blinds that are:

- Excessively dirty

- Damaged or broken

- Warped

- Brittle due to age

- Moldy or water damaged

- Structurally unsound

- Incompatible with our printing or engraving process

If your blinds cannot be customized, we'll discuss your available options before proceeding.
